On Saturday night, October 18, at the Nimoy Thalia Hall at Symphony Space the Iktus Percussion Quartet gave a concert of 6 world premiere works written by RAM members especially for them. They rocked the house! It was obvious a great deal of care and work went into every piece. Several audience members told me how well they thought Iktus played and, of course, all of us RAM composers felt the same way. It can’t have been easy to pull all this disparate music together but, true to great performers everywhere, Iktus made it look easy.
If you love percussion music, keep a close eye out for concerts by this up and coming group. You won’t be disappointed.
I’d like to take this platform to second Allen’s message. IKTUS gave us six incredible performances on Saturday night, both a reflection of their exceptional hard work and extraordinary ensemble skills. The composers of RAM are priviledged and thankful to have had the opportunity to work with such a talented and dedicated group. We look forward to collaborating with Chris, Danielle, Justin and Roy again soon!
Highly recommend you check out IKTUS on Thursday, Nov. 20th at 1pm, at Trinity Church (74 Trinity Place, New York, New York 10006) with works by Ligeti, Wolf, White, and Reich.
Best wishes!
Erin
Last night’s concert of our member composers’ music by the Iktus Percussion Ensemble was a huge success. We’d like to thank Roy, Justin, Danielle, and Chris for the hours and hours of hard work they put in on our compositions. Most of the works were very difficult, but the Iktus players did an amazing job of pulling the music together.
We had a large audience of 65 listeners in the Thalia Theater at Symphony Space. We’d like to thank everyone who came out to support RAM and the Iktus Percussion Ensemble.
RAM’s next project will be with the Lost Dog New Music Ensemble. We’ll be writing 6 new works for Lost Dog for a performance on Friday, April 24, 2009, @ 8:00 pm at the LaGuardia Performing Arts Center, in Long Island City. We’ll post more info as the concert nears.
In the meantime, please check back soon for sound clips from our most recent concert and for other news regarding the Random Access Music composers’ collective. (special news… we’ve decided to have a call for scores to include on one of our up-coming concerts, so keep an eye out for that announcement.)
